Residential Meal Plans 2012-13
Residential meal plans are required for students that live in the residence halls, so the housing application requires you to select a meal plan. The cost of your meal plan is included in your room and board, and billed to your student account before the start of each quarter.
How does a meal plan work? Each plan consists of three components: meals, guest meals and Dining Dollars. Meals are available at any dining commons; a swipe of your Western Card deducts one all-you-care-to-eat meal from your dining balance. Dining Dollars may be used in any of the cafes and markets on campus or to buy more meals in the commons. Unused meals expire at the end of each quarter; unused Dining Dollars carry over from one quarter to the next and expire at the end of Spring Quarter each year. You can monitor your meal plan balance online. Meal Plans are non-transferable; misuse can result in result in a fine and conduct proceedings.
Which plan is right for you? Choosing a meal plan that suits your needs will depend upon how often you eat on campus, how many meals your typically eat in a day, and where you like to dine. Use our meal plan wizard to help you determine the plan that's right for you.
