SFA Dining is happy to now offer reusable, Eco To-Go containers to all SFA ID-Card Holders!

What are Eco To-Go Containers?
Eco To-Gos are durable and leak resistant, opaque containers. They are:recyclable (#5), BPA free (Bisphenol A is a potentially harmful chemical found in plastics), National Sanitation Foundation Certified (gold standard for sanitation), sanitized per the Texas Health Department regulation. And of course, the reusable containers reduce waste. Currently, SFA disposes of over 7,600 disposable to-go containers weekly! That's over 230,000 during an academic year!

How the Program Works:
Sign up for the program at an informational tabling in a dining hall or email Brigid Gregory at

                                 Then it's just 3 simple steps: Swipe and Eat, Return and Repeat!

The program works similar to a library card system: 
Each SFA Id-card holder gets one Eco To-Go container for free. 
Using the customer's Id-card, we keep track of which customers have an Eco To-Go container "checked in" or "checked out" of the dining halls.Once the Eco To-Go container has left the RFoC, it belongs to the customer. To get a second container (second meal in an Eco To-Go), the customer must return the first container, or they can choose to purchase a second container for a $5 replacement fee. 


Containers can be returned (during normal business hours) to any of the following locations' cashiers: 



- Einstein Bros. Bagels, Library

- C Store, BPSC

Eco To-Go FAQs:
1.) Why should I participate?
By preventing thousands of disposable to-go containers from entering the landfill each year, the Eco To-Go program is a great way to get meals "to-go" and reduce waste!

2.) Where can I get my meal in an Eco To-Go container?
All SFA Id-card holders can get meals to-go in Eco To-Go containers at the SC & EC RFoCs.

3.) Do I have to wash my container?
We handle the washing of all containers in our dish washing facilities to ensure proper sanitation. We do ask, that if possible, you return the container, rinsed. But either way, simply return the container and we will take care of the cleaning and sanitation.

4.)Are the Eco To-Go containers clean and sanitary?
Yes, the Eco To-Go containers are clean and sanitary. The containers are cleaned and sanitized through the same process that is used for all other dining hall dishware and cutlery. We ensure that your next container is clean and ready for your use, just as a plate and cup would be in the dining hall. 

5.) Can I clean and re-use the same Eco To-Go container?
No, you will not be allowed to clean and re-use the same Eco To-Go container. Each container must be sanitized and cleaned in the SFA Dining dishwashers. 

6.) What happens if I lose, break of chip my Eco To-Go?
If your Eco To-Go container is lost or stolen,  you can choose to purchase a second container (meal to-go) for a $5 non-refundable replacement fee , dine in or use RFoC Express (SC and coming soon to EC). If your container is broken or chipped, please return the container to either the SC or EC RFoC and we will replace the container at no charge to you.

7.) When do I have to return my Eco To-Go?
There is no deadline for returning the container. But, to get a second Eco To-Go meal you must return your first container or you may choose to purchase a second container for a $5 non-refundable replacement fee, you may also choose to dine in or get RFoC Express at SC, coming soon to EC.

8.) Can I get retail food (Panda Express, Chick-fil-A) in my Eco To-Go container?
No, you may not get retail food in your Eco To-Go container. You may only use the containers at the RFoCs.

9.) Can a commuter participate in the Eco To-Go program?
Yes, all SFA Id-card holders may participate in the Eco To-Go program.
