Q. Do I need a Dining Membership?
A. Students that live in residence halls without a kitchen in their room are required to purchase a meal plan. Students living off campus or that live in Lumberjack Village Building 3 or University Woods have the option of purchasing a commuter meal plan. Enrolling in a Dining Membership allows you to enjoy the great tastes on campus with friends. We offer meal plans with a price per meal as low as $4.59! Our plans guarantee all-you-care-to-eat meals and the flexibility of dining dollars with a la carte purchasing. No worries about carrying cash. No risk in losing your parking spot. No sales tax on your meal purchases! Dining at SFA is the way to go!
Q. Do unused meals carry over to the following week?
A. It depends on what meal plan you select. Our resident plans are structured so that you have a set number of meals assigned to each week of the semester and do not carry. However, if you choose one of our Block plans, you have the flexibility with your schedule to use those meals at anytime during the semester. We can help you decide on the right plan to fit your schedule and eating habits, ensuring that you get the full value for your dollars.
Q. What type of meal plan do you recommend?
A. That depends on your preference of eating at the dining hall more often versus having options of more dining dollars. For instance, with the 7 Day 20, the average meals per day in the dining halls is 3 (20÷7), and the plan only offers $50 Dining Dollars. However, with the 7 Day 14, the average meals per day is 2 (14÷7) in the dining halls, with $125 Dining Dollars for retail. Students living on campus that do not sign up for a meal plan before the first serving day each semester will be automatically put on the 7 Day 14.
Q. Can I change my meal plan?
A. Yes. During the first week of each semester, students are allowed to make changes to their meal plan. To do this, visit the Card Services office in room 1.205 of the Student Center. A $20 change fee may be incurred, as well as other charges based on the time of the change and DD usage.
Q. Can I treat a friend by using my Dining Membership?
A. Absolutely! Anyone can treat a friend to a meal using their dining dollars and paying the door rate in the dining halls. However, if you purchase a Block plan you may treat a friend to an All-You-Care-To-Eat meal, but you must be present. All other meal plans are non-transferable.
Q. What do I do when my Dining Dollars run low?
A. Reload. Simply add to your Dining Dollars balance through your mySFA account online. As a reward for adding Dining Dollars, SFA Dining will give you $10 bonus dollars for every $100 that you add (when purchased in increments of $100). Dining Dollars that are included in your meal plan will roll forward to the spring semester as long as you purchase a meal plan for the Spring semester. Any unspent Dining Dollars that were included in your meal plan remaining on an account at the end of each spring semester will be forfeited.
Q. Do I have to purchase a meal plan if I live in Lumberjack Village?
A. If you live in Building 1 or 2 of Lumberjack Village, you must purchase one of the residential meal plans available. Although you are not required to purchase a meal plan if you live in Building 3 (which includes a full-kitchen), we encourage you to consider the savings in purchasing one. Commuter plans offer the flexibility of cooking in your kitchen, with the option of eating in the dining hall (no clean up, no cooking!) or one of our retail locations with you Dining Dollars.
Q. How do I set up a meeting with the SFA Dining Dietitian?
A. SFA Dining offers dietetic services to SFA students at no charge! Registered Dietitian Sarah Drake provides counseling on food allergies, low-fat diets, vegetarian/vegan diets, food for medical conditions and more! If you would like to set up an appointment to meet Sarah, you can email her at drake-sarah@aramark.com or call her at (936) 468-1022.
