Meal Plan Requirements University policy requires students who live in a residence hall to purchase one of the meal plans each semester. Freshmen living in residence halls must choose from the Catamount, the Gold, or the Purple meal plan.
Block Meals BLOCK MEALS are prepaid meals that can be used at the Real Food on Campus (RFoC), which is located on the second floor in the new Courtyard Dining Hall, for any meal served. Unlike meals per week plans, block meals are available to you during the entire semester but they do not transfer from fall to spring semester. Block meals cannot be used in other dining locations on campus. Unused block meals are forfeited at the end of the semester and do not transfer from one semester to the next.
You may use more than one block meal per meal period and you may also use block meals to treat friends to meals if they are with you. You may not loan your card to others to use.
Declining Balance Points DECLINING BALANCE POINTS work on the same principle as bank debit cards. Each time you make a food purchase, the total cost of your meal is subtracted from the point balance in your account. Declining balance points may be used at any campus dining location and in snack vending machines with card readers. Unused declining balance points transfer from fall semester to spring semester. Unused declining balance points are forfeited to the University at the end of spring semester.
Changes Deadline for students to change their meal plan is the last day of course drop/add each semester.
Cancellations and Refunds Unused Declining Balance Points will transfer at the end of fall semester to spring semester. Any unused Declining Balance Points at the end of spring semester are forfeited to the University. No refunds will be issued for unused points or board meals.
ID Card A valid WCU ID Card is required to use your meal plan. Cat Cards and replacements, which are not transferable, may be obtained at the Cat Card office located on the 2nd floor of Killian Annex. Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately to the Cat Card office or to University Police in order to have the card declared invalid.
Serving Dates Your meal plan can be used during scheduled service times from lunch on the day residence halls open until residence halls close at the end of the semester except during these University holidays: Thanksgiving break (Wednesday – Sunday lunch), Winter Break, Spring Break. Serving dates and hours of operation at individual dining locations are described in the locations section of the WCU Dining website and are posted in each location. Holiday Hours will also be posted several days in advance at each location and will be posted on this site. |
