N.A.P. (Nutrition Awareness Program) was developed by Dining Services for customers of Wake Forest. The program emphasizes the link between good food and good nutrition. It promotes healthy eating habits, good lifestyle practices, good food choices, and provides information on options in Dining Services. N.A.P. program consists of table displays, cooking demonstrations, sample plates, lectures, newsletters, and tours of the dining facilities.

Objectives

  • Help promote the image of the Dining program
  • Promote healthy eating in all dining service locations by displaying a healthy meal selection of the day with general nutrition labeling. The customer will recognize the healthy option by using a trade mark unique to Wake Forest.
  • Collaborate with Wake Forest Departments to help educate and provide a "less intimidating way" to have questions and concerns answered.
  • Communicate with Dining Customers via web site and e-mail about Dining Services Nutrition Program and other related concerns or comments.
  • Create monthly nutrition newsletter that promotes the Dining Service Nutrition Program and other points of interest related to current nutritionally related trends and concepts.
  • Provide Healthy Cooking tips and continue to advertise that it is possible to eat healthy in Dining Locations.
  • Assist with taking scheduled groups on tour of Dining Services location.
  • Promote Cooking Demonstration Program.

Measurement of Success

  • The program's success will be measured through the customer's evaluation of nutrition promotions and the number of nutritional brochures, newsletters, and other information picked up.
  • The Nutrition Specialist will host focus groups created to provide feedback about the Nutritional Program and overall dining experience.
