Meals vs. Pirate Bucks
For your convenience, meals and Pirate Bucks at any campus dining location.
At Todd Dining Hall and West End Dining Hall, dining is all-you-care-to-eat. These restaurants deduct a meal from your Dining Plan unless you specify to use your Pirate Bucks Account first!
At Destination 360, Center Court, MSC Java City, Galley, Pirate Market, Reade Street Market, Wright Place, C3 Express, and Blimpie a meal gives you a credit equivalency for your purchase. If you purchase more than this credit equivalency, you can use your Pirate Bucks Account, cash, Visa, or MasterCard to cover the difference. These restaurants use your Pirate Bucks Account automatically unless you specify to use a meal equivalency first!
The meal equivalencies are: Breakfast: $2.00; Lunch: $3.00; Dinner: $3.50; Late Night: $2.00. Only one meal may be used per meal period.
You may use meals from the first day the residence halls open until the last day of exams. As far as your Pirate Bucks Account goes, if we’re open, you can use it.

Getting Started
How do I sign up for a dining plan or a Pirate Bucks Account?
Dining Plan fees and deposits to Pirate Bucks Accounts (deposits begin at $20) can be paid in any of the following convenient ways:

Payments can be made at either the university cashier's office or in the Dining Services office now located in Jones Residence Hall on College Hill Drive.

To pay by phone call the Dining Services office at 252.ECU.FOOD and have a credit card handy.
Please note that payments made at the Dining Services office are immediately credited to your Dining Plan. Payments made in the cashier's office are credited to your account the next business day (For example, a Friday deposit will be credited to your Dining Plan on Monday morning). All students, faculty and staff may enroll in a Resident Dining Plan. Only commuter students, faculty and staff may enroll in an Interstate Dining Plan.

Liability Information Your ECU 1 Card must be presented to the cashier each time you dine in our facilities. ECU 1 Cards are not transferable. Dining Plan members may not pass, sell, or loan their ECU 1 Cards to others.
Report a lost card immediately during business hours to the Office of Campus Dining Services (ECU-FOOD) or the ECU One Card office (328-2015). After regular business hours, call ECU Police at 328-6787. Your One Card will be deactivated immediately. Dining Services becomes responsible for account balances only at the time you report a lost or stolen card.
You can buy a seven-day temporary card for $1. Pirate Bucks cannot be used to pay lost card charges.

Dining Plans and Financial Aid If you receive financial aid, you may waive payment for a Dining Plan until you receive your aid. To do so, the Office of Student Financial Aid must issue a deferment through the cashier's office.

Changes, Cancellations, and Refunds
2009-2010 Academic Year (Campus Residents):
A. Changes of meal plans are initiated only in the Campus Dining office located in Jones Residence Hall. Students may cancel their meal plan only if they buy out of the housing portion of the Campus Living Contract or are approved by the appeals committee to cancel their contract. Students who cancel or buy out of their Campus Living Contract after July 31, 2008, for any reason or are evicted from Campus Housing will require a $150 buy out fee for canceling their Campus Meal Plan in addition to any charges from the Campus Housing portion of the contract. B. Meal plans are refundable on a prorated basis less any Pirate Bucks funds used less any fees or charges. C. Students may make changes to their fall semester meal plans until the Friday after Labor Day. There is a $25 service charge for changing to a smaller meal plan when a refund is requested; however, a total value rollover to a smaller plan will incur no service charges. D. Students may make changes to their spring semester meal plans until the Friday after Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. There is a $25 service charge for changing to a smaller meal plan when a refund is requested; however, a total value rollover to a smaller plan will incur no service charges.
All refunds are disbursed through the cashier’s office. Please allow Dining Services two weeks for processing.
All Dining Plans are refundable on a prorated basis minus any Pirate Bucks used. A Pirate Bucks Account is declared inactive after twelve months of no activity and is then canceled with normal cancellation fees applicable.
Students living off campus must visit the Campus Dining office in Jones Residence Hall to change or cancel a meal plan. These students may change from one meal plan to another; however, if a refund is requested, there is a $25 service charge for downsizing a meal plan. All refunds are disbursed through the cashier's office. Please allow Dining Services two weeks for processing. Students living off campus: All meal plans are refundable on a prorated basis minus any Pirate Bucks used. Withdrawals from meal plans cost $100. Pirate Bucks Account plans are refunded the account balance less the $100 withdrawal fee. A Pirate Bucks Account is declared inactive after twelve months of no activity and is then canceled with normal cancellation fees applicable.

Meal Plan Sign Up
Students living on-campus Students living on-campus should indicate their meal plan on their housing contract. The meal plan will be billed on the housing and tuition statement.
Faculty and Staff Faculty and staff may sign up by downloading this form or calling 252.ECU.FOOD.
Students living off-campus Students living off-campus will receive a brochure in the mail over the summer with an enrollment form or may sign up now by downloading this form or calling 252.ECU.FOOD.
