Welcome to ECU Campus Dining

NEW 2013-14 Meal Plans Available for the Fall!

All-access and continous dining, new locations and restructured meal plans make eating on campus even easier. The meal plans have been completely overhauled from the current system. Starting in the upcoming school year, the most significant change is that the dining halls will be open on a near continuous basis and students will not have to use a "meal" in the dining hall. There are no more breakfast, lunch, and dinner zones, but rather the dining halls will be open from morning to night. There are no restrictions on when you can go to the dining hall, and meal plan enrollment ensures that you can go to the dining hall as often as you like, unlimited visits. Whether you want to grab an ice cream or sit down to a full meal, there are no limitations on going to the dining hall.

The numbers in the new meal plans (15, 40, 70) refer to the number of meals students have to use at the retail locations (Chick-fil-A, Chili's, Subway, etc.) per semester. These are called Pirate Meals. The Pirate Meal will be a specifically designed meal at each participating location. Currently, the Pirate Meal at Destination 360 is often a combo meal of a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. Starting with the new meal plans, the Pirate Meals will be offered at more locations and will offer a "bigger" meal. Also, when using Pirate Meals, just the one "meal" will cover the entire cost of the purchase. Students will not have to worry about equivalency rates, or paying with a combination of a meal and Pirate Bucks. Because the Pirate Meal will cover the entire cost of the designated meal, any product not covered under the Pirate Meal must be paid for with Pirate Bucks.
All meal plans still do come with an allotment of Pirate Bucks. The fewer meals you have, the more Pirate Bucks your plan will come with. As always, Pirate Bucks can be added to student's meal plans at any time, either online at the Campus Dining Website or over the phone at (252) 328-3663. With the new meal plans, Pirate Bucks are designed to be used as supplemental money for buying snacks, smaller items, or for purchases at select retail locations that will not offer Pirate Meals, such as Starbucks, Java City, C-Stores, and Einstein Bros. Bagels. As stated above, there will be no equivalent values assigned to the allotted Pirate Meals. If the student wishes to make a purchase for an item not covered under a Pirate Meal, the total amount must be paid with Pirate Bucks, cash, or credit. Cash/Credit cards will still be accepted at all locations as well, if the students wishes to make a purchase without having a meal plan.

The main benefit to the new meal plans is that the dining halls will be open for students on a near continuous basis. Under this system, the dining halls will become the primary dining location. Pirate Meals and Pirate Bucks will still be available for supplemental purchases. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
