Portion Control

It is important to pay attention to the amount of foods you eat.

Many times when eating out, the amount of food that is served contains more than 1 portion or serving size.

Large portions contain more calories than the normal sized portion.

Here are some common items that represent normal portion sizes:

1 cup = baseball
1/2 cup = lightbulb
1 oz or 2 Tbsp = golf ball
1 Tbsp = poker chip
3 oz chicken or meat = deck of playing cards
3 oz fish = checkbook

Visit this site to learn more about portion sizes

Portion Control Tips:
-Listen to your body
-Use smaller plates and dishes
-Slow down and enjoy your food
-Don't eat out of a bag, divide into serving sizes instead
-Share meals when eating out
-Eat half, take the other half home when eating out
-Eat meals and snacks regularly
