New Meal Plan FAQ Sheet

1. If I want to grab lunch from the Vassar Express, will the meal equivalency come from my declining balance or be used as a “meal” from my ACDC plan?

When using Express lunch, one meal will be deducted from the number of meals in your plan. In the fall, The Atrium will also be open for grab and go meals that are paid for with meals instead of points.

If I run out of meals and want to purchase a Block Meal Plan, how much will that cost?

Block Meal Plans are available for $11.00 a meal which can be purchased in  any quantity with a ten meal minimum.

2. Can I give away or sell my meals to another student?

No. The meal plans are constructed in such a way as to allow students to buy in at the level they need. If, after the first year, a student has extra meals, then a smaller meal plan should be utilized.

3. Can I sell my guest meal passes to another student?

No. Guest meals are intended for your guests and, therefore, cannot be transferred or sold to another student. Guest meals can be used by the purchasing student or their guests.

4. Will my unused guest passes roll over from the fall to the spring semester?

With the change of the board plan for next year, students are given a certain amount of meals and guest meals per semester and will not roll over to the next semester. The declining points will roll over from the fall to spring semester.

5. What happens if I want to grab a meal-to-go from ACDC?

There will be to-go containers that will be available to students at the cashier’s counter. Students will leave their id card with the cashier, fill a to-go container, and, then, retrieve their id card from the cashier.

6. If I want to change my meal plan for spring semester of 2009, what date must I do that by?

February 4th is the deadline for students who wish to change their meal plan. To do so, please contact reslife@vassar.edu and be sure to include your id (999) number.

7. If I want to grab a banana and a cup of coffee, for breakfast, would you recommend that I use my meal point for this?

How you use your meal points will depend upon a few factors. If it is early in the semester and you have a lot of points, use your points. If it is later in the semester and you have a lot of meals, use a meal. All your meal plan decisions will depend upon your eating habits and how many points and meals you have available.

8. Will the food and drink prices in the Retreat remain the same?

Prices in The Retreat typically increase in the fall based upon the last twelve months' inflation.

9. Will there be a discount if I buy a large number of declining balance points?

No, with our new board plan, 1 point is the equivalent to $1.00.
