Green Thread: Our Environmental Stewardship Platform At ARAMARK we have a deep respect for—and commitment to—preserving our environment. We are connecting and developing environmental stewardship programs and policies—called Green Thread—that weave throughout our business operations. These include sustainable food and agriculture, earth-friendly procurement, energy conservation, waste management, and buildings and system design.
Green Thread at Regis College In conjunction with Regis College, ARAMARK is committed to supporting sustainability initiatives on campus. Examples include:
SUSTAINABLE FOOD
- We purchase as many locally-grown ingredients and products as possible to support local farmers and businesses within a 150 mile radius
- We are currently partnered with Sid Wainer out of New Bedford, MA. Henry Wainer has supported over 200 farmers in New England for over 20 years, helping to improve their production and distribution in a changing market place
- The coffee used on campus supports certified organic practices and fair trade
- We purchase bread from Fantini Bakery in Haverhill, MA, ensuring the freshest possible product
- We purchase our dairy products and ice cream from HP Hood
WASTE MANAGEMENT
- Cardboard is broken down and sent to a separate dumpster on campus, taking it out of the waste stream
- We purchase in bulk to reduce waste
- We only use napkins and paper towels made with recycled paper
- We use automated paper towel dispensers
ENERGY & WATER CONSERVATION
- We have gone trayless to help conserve water, energy and lessen the chemicals that are put into the water.
