How Meal Memberships Work Quality, Variety and Convenience are the main ingredients of our diverse dining program. To keep up with ever-changing food trends, University of Hartford Dining Services offers low-fat, low-carb and vegetarian dining options as well as traditional American cuisine, ethnic dishes and popular national brands like Zia, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. There are twelve dining locations offering a combination of service styles to meet your needs. Real Food on Campus at the University Commons is an all-you-care-to-eat facility. There are several retail dining locations offering a la carte service, an espresso bar, smoothies, and a large convenience store which offers extensive grocery selections. Students may use Dining Dollars at all dining locations.
Weekly Meals Meal memberships give you the opportunity to enjoy all-you-care-to-eat dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in our resident dining location - the Commons. You receive a specified number of guaranteed meals per week each semester, based on the plan you select. The Freshmen Exclusive plan provides meals that can be used throughout the semester. Students may use one meal per meal period on any of our meal memberships. During scheduled University breaks meals will not be valid. Dining dollars, additional dining dollars, HawkCASH, cash and credit card are all accepted. For added flexibility, your meal can be converted into a cash equivalency and used during the same meal period at Montagues Deli, Gengras Café, the Hawks Nest, and Market City Deli. Its simple, just tell the cashier you would like to pay for your items using a meal cash equivalency. Meal cash equivalency dollars and times are as follows:
Breakfast 7:30-11:00 = $4.25 Lunch 11:00-4:30 = $5.25 Dinner 4:30-10:00 = $6.25 Late Night 10:00-2:00am = $4.25 (Market City Deli only)
Dining Dollars (DD Dollars) All of the meal memberships offer Dining Dollars, which are accepted like cash in all of our dining locations. You can use your Dining Dollars account to purchase beverages, snacks or full meals for you and your friends at any time. Whenever you buy a meal on campus, the total amount of your purchase is subtracted from your Dining Dollars.
Please Note: Dining dollars will carry over from Fall to Spring semester provided the student participates in a meal membership both semesters. (Valid for all meal memberships and commuter plan)
HawkCASH- Increased Flexibility HawkCASH is accepted at all dining locations. You are to pay at the register using meal membership, Dining Dollars, cash, or your HawkCASH account. You may deposit money, check your balance, report your card lost, or see transactions online at www.HawkCard.com.
Please note: All resident students must participate in a meal membership. Freshmen may choose from any of the four plans offered. As its name implies, the "Freshmen Exclusive" plan will only be available to students during their freshmen year. However, students who entered the University prior to the Fall 2004 term, with full time status, and participation in the Standard meal membership in the Spring 2004 term, will be able to participate in any meal membership. The commuter meal plan is not available to students living on our main campus or Asylum Avenue Campus. |
