Spring Semester 2008 Revision
Plan Descriptions...Candid Pros and Cons
Full Plan: 19meals per Week with $50 Declining Balance
Advantages: The full plan makes sure you have meals available for the entire week and for the whole semester. All freshmen are required to be on this plan for the first semester to establish their dining habit and may change plans after the first semester. This plan is best for those who eat on campus for most of the time, offering the most meals available of the three traditional plans.
Disadvantages: The full plan offers the least amount of flexibility and has the least amount of declining balance dollars.
Plan Features:
The full plan includes one meal for every meal offered during the semester as set forth by the college. Some weeks may have less than 19 meals due to scheduled college breaks and holidays.
If the meal is not used during that meal period, it does not carry over and no credit is given.
Meal exchange is available in all locations. Only one meal per meal period at a time may be used. See meal exchange conditions below.
Plan Changes for Spring 2008:
Multiple meals are no longer accepted in the Dining Room to be consistent with all locations. Only 1 meal per meal period will be allowed in all locations.
Meal exchange limitations have been changed, please see below.
Economy Plan: 9 Meals per Week with $200 Declining Balance
Advantages: The economy plan makes sure you have some meals available every week for the whole semester. This plan is best for those who miss meals on campus due to part time jobs or activities, who leave campus on most weekends, or just don’t like getting up for breakfast. With the most declining balance dollars, you can grab and go at Java City or Walbucks, giving you the more flexibility to eat where and when you like.
Disadvantages: With nine meals per week, running out can be an issue. However, you can purchase meals in the dining room with flex dollars as needed.
Plan Features:
The economy plan gives you 9 new meals every full week, with a pro-rated number of meals for weeks shortened due to college scheduled breaks and holidays.
Meals not used in the given week do not carry over and no credit is given.

Basic Plan: 150 Meals per Semester with $150 Declining Balance
Advantages: The Basic gives you the most flexibility of all the plans. Block meals may be used in any in any quantity and whenever the dining outlets are open. The meals and money are used how you wish within the limitations of the exchange program.
Disadvantages: With 150 meals for the semester, good budgeting is necessary to make it to the end of the semester. The 150 meals represent about half of the meals offered, or between 8 to 10 meals per week for the 15 week semester. Keep in mind; you can purchase meals in the dining room with flex dollars as needed.
Plan Features:
The 150 meals can be used in any amount and during any meal period and in any of the four dining venues, and are the only meals that can be used during breaks and holidays. Meal exchange is available in all locations. See meal exchange conditions below.

Warrior Bucks:
Warrior Bucks work like declining balance on your card and may be added at any time throughout the year and do not expire. Warrior Bucks can be added by visiting the business office on the second floor of Salveson Hall. Adding Warrior Bucks is a good way to extend your meals without having to carry cash. As an added bonus, you receive ten percent extra for every dollar you put on you card. Warrior Bucks give you an additional 7 % savings by avoiding the tax associated with a cash transaction.
Other Restrictions and Rules
Using Your Meals
Each time your card is scanned in the Campus Center Dining Room upon you entry, a meal will be deducted from the balance available. If you have no balance of meals left for the week, the card system automatically deducts from your declining balance. If no declining balance is available the card system will need a cash payment to complete the transaction.
Declining Balance (Flex Dollars)
Declining balance is yours to use for purchases at any location during the semester. Once balances are used you may add declining dollars in the business office on 2nd Floor Salveson Hall as necessary. Parents and relatives may add declining dollars over the phone by calling the business office at 641-585-8135. Declining balance dollars do not carry over, and therefore need to be used by the end of the current semester with the exception being the commuter plans.
College Issued ID Card Use
Please bring your card to all meals, or be prepared to be turned away. This keeps others from using your card and keeps the lines moving more quickly. Cards can be quickly made in the business office for $25.00.
Meal Exchange- As an added feature you may exchange meals in Walbucks, Java City and Gatsby’s under the following restrictions:
A. Only one meal per meal period may be used during any given meal period with the full and economy plans. For example, you may use one meal for breakfast, one for lunch, and one for dinner.
B. Meal Periods are defined as follows:
Breakfast: 6:00am to 10:00am
Lunch: 10:01am to 3:00pm
Dinner: 3:01pm to 10:00pm
C. When you use a meal for a meal period, it’s used for all locations on campus. For example, for you eat breakfast at 8:00am in the dining room, your next meal is not available at any location until 10:01am. You can use declining balance when meals are not available.
D. Meal exchange is limited to the purchase of $4.50 worth of items, or the exchange for one of the combo specials listed at the individual points of sale. The combo meals consist of the items listed and exchange or substitution of items is not permitted. Upgrades and limited substitutions of selected items may be purchased for a slight up charge from your declining balance.
Please Note: There may be slight differences in the time between the venues on campus, and there may also be lags in the system deducting the meals and declining balance from your plan totals. The computers may let you do things it normally should not, please keep in mind the register system will catch up with you and make the proper deductions.
