How do they work?
Meal plans are geared specifically to make your life easier. A magnetic stripe on the back of your student ID card works with our computer system to identify you as a meal plan member. Depending on whether you live on or off campus and which meal plan you choose, your meal plan will be made up of: unlimited swipes, a set number of swipes, Resident Dining Dollars, Dining Dollars and/or an inclining balance.
Swipes give you access to the all-you-care-to-eat residential restaurant on the first floor of J.W. Jones Student Union. Just swipe and eat whatever you like!
Resident Dining Dollars are available for students who live on-campus and work on the same principle as a bank debit card. Each time you make a food purchase at one of our retail locations, Provisions on Demand convenience stores or a vending machine, the total cost of your meal is subtracted from the dollar balance on your account. Resident Dining Dollars will also continue to roll over as long as you are a student at Northwest.
Dining Dollars are available for students who live off-campus, faculty and staff. Dining Dollars work on the same principle as a bank debit card. Each time you make a food purchase at one of our retail locations, Provisions on Demand convenience stores or a vending machine, the total cost of your meal is subtracted from the dollar balance on your account. Dining Dollars can also be used for pizza delivery from Pizza Hut or Dominos. Dining Dollars will continue to roll over as long as you are a student at Northwest.
With Inclining balance, your ID card becomes a credit card that you can use for food purchases. Twice a month on the 1st and the 15th, your total charges are billed to your University account. Use as much or as little as you want.
Meal Exchange Individuals who have an All-Access Meal Plan (Silver, Gold, Platinum or Five-Day) can take part in the meal exchange program. With this program, a student can use one swipe per week for a predetermined meal at Chick-fil-A, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Zen or Papa John's. Click here to view the meal exchange options at each location.
What Are My Meal Plan Choices?
Our meal plans provide you with many options.
Select a plan that fits your status (resident or commuter) and your lifestyle.
Traditional residents can choose from four All-Access Plans with varying levels of spending power. Each plan is made up of unlimited swipes to the residential restaurant. With the Silver, Gold and Platinum Base Plans, you can enjoy unlimited swipes to the residential restaurant seven days a week. With the Five-Day Plan, you can enjoy unlimited swipes Monday through Friday.
The Gold and Platinum Base Plans also include Resident Dining Dollars and guest meal plan passes. Resident Dining Dollars can be used at any of the retail locations, P.O.D. Market at the Station and in the vending machines.
A guest pass can be used by a friend or family member and it gives them a one time access to the Bearcat Commons on the first floor of the Student Union.
Silver Base Plan With full access and no restraints, the Silver Base Plan is a great value for anyone. This plan includes unlimited access to Bearcat Commons, seven-days-a-week.
Gold Base Plan A great balance with all-access meals and Resident Dining Dollars for students on the go! This plan includes unlimited access to Bearcat Commons seven-days-a-week, $150 Resident Dining Dollars and five guest passes.
Platinum Base Plan Gives you the ultimate flexibility. This plan includes unlimited access to Bearcat Commons seven-days-a-week, $300 Resident Dining Dollars and eight guest passes.
Five-Day Plan The perfect plan so you don’t have to pay with cash or leave campus to find food. The perfect option if you'll only be on campus weekdays. This plan includes unlimited access to Bearcat Commons Monday-Friday.
You can add Resident Dining Dollars to your plan anytime in increments of $25.
As a commuter student, you don’t have to do a thing. All registered, commuter students are automatically able to use inclining balance to charge their food purchases to their University account. If you are worried about controlling your spending on inclining, you can choose from our All-Access Plans, Block Plans, Combo Purchases or $300 Dining Dollars Plan.
Inclining Balance All commuters are automatically signed up for inclining balance (unless you opt for declining). Inclining works like a credit card allowing you to charge all your purchases to your University account.
All-Access Meal Plans Commuters have the option of signing up for any of
the All-Access meal plans available to residents.
Block Plans A Block Plan is perfect for commuters who wish to visit the residential restaurant at their convenience throughout the semester. Choose from 75, 50 or 25 all-you-care-to-eat meals.
$300 Dining Dollar Plan With this plan, you have $300 Dining Dollars to use at any on-campus dining location, including Bearcat Commons, all locations in The Jones, Papa John's and POD Market in The Station, Starbucks in the Library, vending machines, concession stands and Northwest Tailgate! These funds can also be used for delivery from Pizza Hut and Dominos.
Add Dining Dollars If you don't want a full plan but still want to pre-pay, you can add Dining Dollars to your card in any increment of $25.
