Can I change my meal plan?
Yes. You can change your meal plan during the first four weeks of fall and spring semesters. Changes made before the semester begins are free of charge. There is a $15 fee for changes made once the semester begins. Changes made before the beginning of fall semester should be made in the Residence Life Office for residential students. Changes made after the beginning of fall semester should be made in the Campus ID Office.

Can I get more FLEX Dollars if I run low?
Yes, adding more FLEX Dollars to your meal plan is easier than ever. You can order additional FLEX Dollars online at www.cmucampusdining.com as often as needed throughout the semester. You can charge these purchases to your campus account or a credit card.

How do I check my balance?
You’ll know your account balance when making a purchase because the register shows how many meals and/or FLEX Dollars you have left after each purchase with your meal plan. You can also ask for a receipt which will show your FLEX Dollar balance.

Can I treat a friend by using one of my meals?
You are the only one who can use the “meals” in your meal plan. However, six guest meal passes are included in the Best Value, Healthy Appetite, Complete Cuisine, and Social Light meal plans. You can also purchase food for your friends with your FLEX Dollars.

Can commuters, faculty, or staff get just FLEX Dollars and no “meals”?
Yes, we offer several “all FLEX” meal plans for commuters, faculty, and staff.

Where can I use FLEX Dollars?
FLEX Dollars can be used at all 16 dining locations on campus. FLEX Dollars are accepted like cash in any of our retail restaurants and convenience stores on campus…and even in the residential restaurants by paying the casual meal rate at the door.

How can I pay for my meal plan?
All major credit cards, cash, check, money orders, and student accounts are all accepted.

What happens if I have unused FLEX Dollars at the end of the semester?
Choose your meal plan according to your eating habits and schedule. Unused FLEX Dollars do not transfer from the fall to the spring semester unless you purchased the All FLEX Meal Plan or added additional FLEX Dollars to your account. At the end of the spring semester, any unused dollars are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to the new academic year.

Why is the extra FLEX I added not showing up on my ID Card?
When you add extra FLEX Dollars to your account, the additional FLEX goes into a separate FLEX account than the original FLEX that came with your meal plan. When swiping your ID card, only the balance in your original FLEX account will be displayed on the cash register. When making purchases, always ask for a receipt. Your receipt will show you the balance in both your original and additional FLEX accounts. A balance inquiry will only show the balance in the first account.
