Meal Memberships/ Frequently Asked Questions

Meal Memberships - Frequently Asked Questions

Being new to campus, we anticipate you will have many questions, so we've gathered some of our most frequently asked questions about your dining program and the answers to help you familiarize yourself with our dining program.

What is the best plan for me and can I change my plan once I've signed up?
If you are a resident on campus, we recommend any of the Gold Plans. If you are a freshman on campus, you must select one of the Gold Plans. For flexibility and convenience of not being restricted to eating at certain times we recommend the Gold Plus Plan. If you have a sporatic eating schedule or are a commuter, we recommend the Block Plans. Either way, eating on campus is a way to meet new friends, socialize and relax. We recommend some kind of plan for everyone. Don't miss out on the campus community by not having a meal plan. You may make changes to your meal plan selection during add/drop, August  26th - September 5th. Simply visit the ID office located in the Campus center or visit: www.wm.edu/mealplan/. After this time there will be a $25 cancellation fee. Feel free to reach us at dining@wm.edu or 221-2110 for any questions.

What are flex points and how can they be used?
Meal plan flex points allow you to supplement your meal plan by providing you non-taxable, discretionary spending money for use at all dining locations at any time. Flex points are for use at William & Mary food dining locations and Domino's "Late Night" Campus Pizza delivery only. Additional Flex points may be purchased in increments of $10 at any time throughout the semester by visiting the ID Office in the Campus Center, The Students' X-change located in the Sadler Center, Starbucks Café at Swem Library or The Java City Café at Marshall Wythe School of Law. Flex points carry over from fall to spring with the purchase of a spring meal membership however, flex points do not carry over from spring to summer or fall semesters.

Can I use my Flex Points or Meals to purchase a meal for a guest or myself?
Yes, you can use your Flex Points at all Dining Service facilities at your discretion. Should you choose to use your Flex Points for Unlimited Seconds dining at Center Court or The Caf, you may do so at the following non-taxable prices: Breakfast $6.50, Brunch/Lunch $9.50, Dinner $9.95. If you are enrolled in the Gold Plus plan, you have 5 guest meals per semester to be used however you choose. Block meals may be used only when a guest accompanies the ID card holder. Gold and Green meals are intended solely for the meal plan holder and are non-transferable.

What is a meal zone and where do they apply?
Meal zones are the times in which you may use your meal plan. Meal zones are campus-wide; therefore, the hours may not always coincide with actual meal periods or concept hours at each location. Meal zones have been established for the locations that allow for meals, meal options, "take-out", and grab-n-go.
