Spring 2012:

Dear Student and Parent(s),

The College of William and Mary is dedicated to providing an exceptional dining program for our students, one that supports students' nutritional and dietary needs, enhances the overall student experience, and promotes the sense of community that defines the College. We are committed to providing food of the highest quality, in dining facilities that are both attractive and welcoming. while our current program is very good, we have listened to our students over the past several years and have concluded we can do better.

In order to accomplish our goals, the Colleges Board of Visitors approved a meal plan requirement for all students who reside in housing operated by the College. A similar requirement is in place at the vast majority of Virginia public colleges and universities, as well as our peer institutions. The new residential meal plan requirement began this past fall with the entering class of 2015 and will continue to be rolled out class by class over the next three (3) years. Current sophomores, juniors and seniors will not be affected by this requirement.

This initiative will allow us to enhance our food variety and quality while we improve and expand our facilities to meet current needs. We are excited about the opportunity to create an outstanding dining experience for our students. If you have any questions, please contact John Byxbe, Interim Director of Auxiliary Services at jjbyxbe@ma.edu or 757-221-2435. We are here and willing to assist you with your questions.
