Dining Plans  

At U.Va. meal plans are convenient, delicious, flexible, and loaded with options.  Meal Plan membership gives you more than 20 dining locations all across Grounds with a range of hours from as early at 7:00 am to as late as 2:00 am.  With meal swipes and Plus Dollars to access all these services, you get guaranteed value, whether you eat on-Grounds three times a week or three times a day!  See our Dining Plan Options section for more information.
 

Dining Meal Plan Changes:
Students are no longer allowed to downgrade their fall semster meal plan.  However, you can still upgrade for fall by submitting the Dining Plan Change Request Form

Spring Dining Plan changes will be accepted between December 10, 2009 and January 27, 2010.  Please do not submit your spring term change before these dates. 

Remember:  If you currently have a Dining Plan, it will automatically be renewed for Spring.  DO NOT order another one.  For changes to your current Dining Plan for the Spring semester, submit the Dining Plan Change Request Form after December 10, 2009.

To use our online ordering system for meal plans or adding Plus Dollars, you must first create an account with us.

 

To complete the sign-up process online, you will need your 9 digit UVA ID number (also known as your Campus ID).  NEVER use your social security number.  First years and transfers, you can obtain your UVA ID number at: http://whois.virginia.edu/uid/. 

Also, this system is automated.  If you enter an incorrect ID number your order will not process.

Do not order two dining plans, you will be charged twice. It is a contract for the entire academic year and will renew itself for the spring semester.

Guest Meals: Bring a friend to a meal! Guest meals are a specified feature of all week-based dining plans; semester-based dining plans can be used at any time to host a guest.

Casual Meal Rate: We welcome all guests to any meal in the dining rooms. The 2009-2010 Casual Meal Rate below applies to those who are not dining on a dining plan or guest meal pass.

Nutrition

Nutrition concerns? Need dietary modifications? Want your dietary intake analyzed? All of these services are available free of charge to dining plan participants through our on-staff nutritionist. Our nutritionist is actively involved in the planning of the menus to ensure a healthy variety of options. Nutrition information is available for each menu item at the residential dining rooms and through our online menus. This information is posted so that you can make healthy decisions.

 

Vegetarian

For our vegtarian and vegan guests, meatless entrees are available at all residential dining rooms during each meal period.

 

Online
Weekly menus, nutrition infomation, dining plan informatio, hours of operation and general dining information are posted and available right here on our website.

 

Schedule Conflicts

If your schedule conflicts with our dining room service hours, we offer a "To Go" program at all of the residential dining rooms. In addition, several of our food courts are open until 2 a.m. If you are ill and cannot make it to a residential dining room for a meal, send your ID and brief, written authorization with a friend a meal will be prepared for you.

 

Cavalier Advantage vs. Plus Dollars
A Cavalier Advantage account can be used just about anywhere on Grounds - from vending machiens, copy machines and parking to the U.Va Bookstore and all dining locations. Plus Dollars are part of your dining plan and are only available for use in dining locations on Grounds. When you use Plus Dollars, you get guaranteed value, and Plus Dollars can be used anytime.

 

 

Good nutrition is one of our primary concerns, both in relation to the individual student and the menus we serve. Click here for more information!


Plus Dollars are included in all dining plans, and can be used in any UVA cash dining location for food purchases, such as Chick-fil-A at Pavilion XI or Freshens Smoothie from Poolside Cafe or Pavilion XI. If you run out of meals on your dining plan, you can even use your Plus Dollars in the dining rooms. You can add Additional Plus Dollars to your dining plan at any time in person at the Dining Services Office, by completing a green "Add Plus Dollars" form at any dining cash stand, or online by clicking on the "Sign Up Now!" link in the upper left side of this webpage and choosing the "Plus Dollar" option. Plus Dollars are not available to non-dining plan participants.

 
Festive Theme Meals and Change of Pace Events: Once a month we schedule a full blown special event, with a theme menu, decorations, live music, and prizes. Other times we'll surprise you with a monotony-breaker event.

Recipes from Home: We're always looking for new, healthy, and popular food ideas..it's your menu!  


In order to serve you best, we need to hear from you. We have set up many avenues of easy access:

  • On-site comment cards in all dining locations
  • Twice a year customer satisfaction surveys in all locations
  • "Meet the Manager" nights
  • Open door policy: Something on your mind? Come in and talk to us!
 

 
Everyone is in a hurry sometimes; if it happens at mealtime, we've got you covered in both residential and retail locations. Look for "Hoos' in a Hurry" at the dining rooms and for "Fresh Flavors to Go" coolers in the retail locations for good food packaged to go.
