Meal Memberships/ Frequently Asked Questions

Meal Membership - Frequently Asked Questions

How does a Meal Plan work?
Meal plans are geared specifically to give you better dining value for your dollars when you use a meal card instead of paying cash to eat. Your meal plan is accessed through your student ID Card. A magnetic strip is placed on the back of your card and works with our computer system to identify you as the meal plan member. Meal plans come with a set number of all-you-care-to eat meals. For retail flexibility, all meal plans come with a set amount of Bonus Dollars that can be used to purchase additional meals, snacks or groceries for your room.

Who should purchase a Meal Plan?
Residents on campus, Longwood Landings, Lancer Park, and Longwood Village sign up for packages.

If I don't us all my meals in one week, do they carry over to the following week?
Unless you have a Block Plan, meals do not carry over from one week to the next. It is important that you select the right plan to fit your schedule and your eating habits to ensure that you get the full value for your dollars. If you need assistance on figuring out the plan that best fits your needs, please contact
avent-grant@aramark.com or call 434-395-2072.

Can I change my meal plan?
Once the semester starts, you will not be able to change your meal plan. The Office of Residential and Commuter Life will designate a period of time in November that will allow you to change your meal plan for the spring semester.

Who can use my card?
For your protection, the only person authorized to use your card is you.

Do I need my I.D. to enter the Dining Hall?
Yes, you may not enter the dining hall or access Bonus Dollars without your I.D. If you lose your I.D., immediately contact the ID office located on the bottom floor of Lancaster, or Campus Police.

What happens to my unused Longwood Dollars and Bonus Dollars at the end of the semester?
Unused Longwood Dollars stay on your account until you graduate or terminate your enrollment at Longwood University. Unused Bonus Dollars are lost at the end of each semester.

Can I treat my friend by using two "meals" in a period?
You are the only one allowed to use your "meals" and you can only use one meal per period. The Unlimited Plan, 14, 10 and Block plans all come with 5 Guest Meals for you to use to treat a friend or visiting family member. Additionally all plans come with Bonus Dollars which can be used to purchase additional meals.

What do I do if my meal plan dollars run low and how do I add more?
Each time you purchase a snack or a full meal, you may ask the cashier to tell you how many meals and/or Bonus Dollars you have remaining. If your dollars run low, you may add more dollars to your account using cash, check, money order or credit card. To add more meal plan dollars, simply go to the Dining Office located in the lower level of the Dining Hall to make your payment. Or,
click here for an order form that can be mailed or faxed in.
