Two new faces in the Fountain Food Court are showing themselves off to Eastern students: Zoca, a Mexican-style restaurant, and Energy Zone, which offers more health-oriented fare. [. . .]
For students who prefer a natural, health-oriented snack instead, there's the Energy Zone. Zone is from Freshens, the station it replaced.
"It's a new food concept from them," Brubeck said. "It brings a healthier option...all natural fruit and ice cream with a great taste."
The taste Brubeck describes has already racked up some fans.
"I tried Energy because I'm obsessed with health and working out," Gordon said. "I love smoothies and all my flex (dollars) are going to that."
And Brubeck said some of the other drinks offered at the Zone are made from wheat grass, which the Energy Zone plans to have samples of soon. However, Zone offers more than just wheat grass-based drinks and natural smoothies to its customers. Other items include boosters with flavors such as green tea for an extra 69 cents, small cups of Thrive Yogurt at $1.79 and frozen coffees and cremes for $3.79.
"We (Aramark) did it for the school," Brubeck said. "The school didn't have to pay for it."
These two new food additions are also the last for the downstairs dining services. Dining Services will now move to upstairs Powell to begin renovations in the summer.
