All Students residing in a North Campus residence hall must be on a University meal plan (19, 14, 10, 225 Block or 175 Block) as a condition of occupancy. Students with medical issues may request a meal waiver. Residents of the South Campus Apartment Complex and the Village at WCU, as well as off-campus and commuting students, may purchase any meal plan offered or dine in the Lawrence Center Dining Hall at the casual meal rate. Additionally, all campus dining locations accept cash, credit cards (Visa & Mastercard), Flex dollars, and Ram bucks.
NEW To-Go Program Students can now participate in a new program at Lawrence Dining Hall. Students can opt to take their meal to go . To participate, you simply just need to ask the cashier that you would like to take your meal to go. The procedure then is as follows:
- You will provide your meal card to the cashier who will hold onto it until you leave the facility after selecting your items.
- You will be given a number of to-go containers (entree, soup, beverage).
- You will have approximately 10 minutes to select any items in the dining hall and fill your containers.
- Upon leaving you will receive your meal card from the cashier.
BAG LUNCHES If you are a student teaching or have an internship, which prevents you from using your meal plan during lunch for dinner, you can make arrangements to pick up a "bag lunch" through the Office of Residence Life and Housing Services, located on the 2nd floor of Lawrence Center. Be sure to bring your Ram E Card with you when you come to the RLHS Office to make your arrangements.
MEAL PLAN WAIVER Those students seeking a meal plan waiver for medical reasons must complete the following procedure:
- Obtain a medical statement from your family physician explaining your reason for exemption from the University meal plans. The physician should answer the following question:
- Specifically, what is the nature of the student's medical problem?
- How long do you think the problem will persist?
- Should the student be released from the meal contract for both semesters?
- The physician should provide a seven-day menu of the necessary foods the student must eat while under your medical supervision
- After receiving the above information, make an appointment with the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.
- The Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs may meet with the student before sending all the information to the Food Service Director to determine if your special diet can be accommodated. If unable to do so, the Food Service Director will notify the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs that the student is eligible to be released from the meal plan.
