How do I pay for these meals?
Having a dining membership allows you the flexibility of eating on campus without needing cash in your pocket. There are three types of memberships, all customizable to fit your needs. They are:
Weekly Meal Plans
These meal plans give you the opportunity to enjoy all-you-care-to-eat dining for breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner. You can also take advantage of our late night dining option in our new diner! You receive a set number of meals per week based on the plan you select. When you eat in the main dining room, a meal is subtracted from your weekly meal balance. Parents and guardians: These plans offer you a sense of security knowing that your student will have a set number of meals each week for the entire semester. Missed meals do not carry over from week to week, however it is factored into the price that some weeks, all allotted meals will not be used.
The Ultimate
19 meals/week plus $150 Flex* Dollars $1,199.00
For those who like complete flexibility, this offers you 19 of the 26 meals served weekly (refer to Meal Zone time periods). Plus you’ll get $150 in Flex to supplement your dining on campus.
The Master Mix
14 meals/week plus $150 Flex* Dollars $1114.00
For those who are likely to eat 2 meals per day weekly. This plan also includes the $150 Flex to supplement your dining on campus.
The Social Light
10 meals/week plus $150 Flex* Dollars $1020.00
Designed for those likely to eat 2 meals per day, Monday-Friday, in addition to supplementing their dining on campus with their $150 Flex.
Block Meal Plans
These meal plans also give you the opportunity to enjoy all-you-care-to-eat dining for breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner. You, too, can take advantage of our late night dining option in our new diner! You receive a set number of meals per semester based on the plan you select. When you eat in the main dining room, a meal is subtracted from your semester meal balance. Parents and guardians: These plans offer flexibility and are typically recommended for upperclassmen. Students must learn to budget their allotted meals for the duration of the semester. Should your student run out of Block meals prior to the end of the semester, no additional meals may be added. Additional Flex Dollars may be purchased, however, to supplement their dining for the remainder of the semester. Meals do not carry over from semester to semester.
Block 225
225 meals/semester plus $150 Flex* Dollars $1,180.00
Block 175
175 meals/semester plus $150 Flex* Dollars $1081.00
Block 75
NOTE: This is only available to commuters and residents of the South Campus Apartment Complex and the Village at WCU.

All Flex* Plan (minimum $100 beginning balance)

If you crave flexibility but you want to still take advantage of all the great dining opportunities on campus, this meal plan was designed for you. With the All Flex Plan, you pay as you go. It works like a bank debit card. Whatever you buy, the total purchase is subtracted from your Flex Dollars account. Use your Flex Dollars for beverages, snacks or full meals for yourself and your friends. Flex Dollars are accepted in the main dining room, all dining retail locations, both convenience stores, the “Breaks” food truck on Church St., Einstein Bros® Bagels, and The Diner.
*What, exactly, are Flex Dollars?
These are supplemental dollars for you to use to purchase items on top of your meal plan. Each meal plan has $150 Flex Dollars included (All Flex Plans have a minimum balance of $150) as part of your dining membership. It is to be used at any of the on-campus dining locations. You can add Flex Dollars in $25 increments to your account at any time by contacting the Bursar’s office (610) 436-2552. Flex will carry over from Fall to Spring semester AND year to year.
ADD FLEX DOLLARS HERE!!! CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT BALANCE TOO!!!
Can I use a meal at one of the retail locations?
You bet! It’s called Meal Cash Credit (MCC) and it exists so that you can get the full value of your meal plan while experiencing all your dining membership has to offer. MCC is a $4.30 value that can be used in place of a standard meal and applied toward the purchase cost of items in our retail locations. For example, if you are visiting our food court and your bill comes to $5.00, you can use a MCC (thus subtracting one meal from your allotted amount) and pay the remaining $0.70 from your Flex Dollars or other payment options. You can use up to 2 MCC’s (just like the rules for meals) for a purchase during each Meal Zone. MCC cannot be applied toward the purchase of any items, however, from our national brands (SUBWAY®, Freshens’ Smoothies®, Chik-fil-A®, Einstein Bros® Bagels) or to purchase convenience store items.
What if I’m a commuter or live on South Campus?
You may want to think about getting a dining membership too. It makes grabbing a bite to eat on campus fast, simple, and convenient. There are lots of benefits like having guaranteed all-you-care-to-eat meals or the flexibility of a lá carte purchasing. You never have to worry about needing to have cash on you. You can enjoy the same privileges and great food as other dining members!
