To The Princeton Theological Seminary Community,
PTS Dining is committed to increasing the amount of environmentally friendly products and services offered on campus. We understand the importance of continued environmental initiatives, especially for PTS and our guests.
Eat Green is a communication campaign to help educate our guests about the steps we are taking to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, the support of sustainable agriculture, and the elimination of unnecessary waste. This campaign not only communicates our efforts, but also nurtures and supports student initiatives in relation to environmental issues on campus.
Below, please find a list of the initiatives and programs we have in place:
Use electric golf carts for most on campus catering orders.
Recycle all cooking oil from fryers that is then used for Bio-diesel fuel.
Feature re-usable catering platters and containers.
Use 100% recycled paper napkins, paper towels, trashcan liners.
Make efforts to reduce packaging by offering china, mugs, and glasses whenever possible.
Purchase local baked goods, dairy and sustainable produce from Sid Weiner and Sysco whenever possible.
Recycle paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastic.
Shut down office computers at night and put them to sleep when they are not in use.
Use Eco friendly cleaning products, consisting of the “Green” line of environmentally friendly products.
Feature only Fair Trade Organic coffee.
Limit variety of food distributors to help lower our “carbon footprint.”
Offer a 10% discount for all coffee purchases to customers who bring their own mug.
Use 100% recycled paper in our office copiers and printers.
Use recycled paper for letterhead and business cards.
Offer Poland Spring Water. Poland Spring uses an “Eco Friendly” bottle that uses over 30% less plastic then the other water competitors.
We will continue to explore new ways to expand our role in improving the environment and look forward to forming partnerships with student groups on campus to reach these goals.
Sincerely,
Michael McFadden
