Joel Blice, Executive Chef of Penn Dining 

Chef Joel is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America where he was the recipient of the Richard T. Keating award for most likely to succeed.  Joel recently received his executive chef certification from the American Culinary Federation.

 

Joel’s professional career has spanned a wealth of culinary, retail and educational experiences. 

 

He has worked as Executive Chef at Mountain View Inn, a historic hotel in Greensburg, PA.  Joel also was the Chef and co-owner of Stillwaters on Main in Gloucester, Virginia.  He most recently served as Executive Chef for Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia where he was responsible for opening an award winning facility for Aramark.   

 

On the retail side, Joel owned and operated Joel’s, a gourmet shop and catering operation in Greensburg Pennsylvania and also spent time as the Director of new store development for Sutton Place Gourmet (now Balducci’s)

 

Joel has also spent time teaching as Chef Instructor at The Pennsylvania Culinary Institute in Pittsburgh, PA.

 

In Joel’s last role, he was the Executive Chef for Dougherty Hall in Villanova Dining Services where he managed the culinary staff responsible for a resident dining hall, three retail operations and the commissary production for the entire University.

 

Joel is currently the Executive Chef of Penn Dining where he oversees the culinary aspect of each Penn Dining operation.
