Filtered Water in Food Court
and Market Place Q&A

Why is bottled water no longer available on
meal exchange in these two locations?

A: Studies show that bottling water creates large amounts of waste and that the water in the bottles is often tap water.  Based on these facts we wanted to give our customers the opportunity to reduce waste and energy by implementing a filtered water program.

How am I to get water if I want it with my meal?
A: We encourage all customers to utilize filtered water.  However, if you would like bottled water you can purchase it for an additional cost as a part of your meal.  You can use meal exchange for your meal and dining dollars to pay for the bottle of water.

To make the new water filter program as green as possible we have switched  from paper cups to one made from plant material which is compostable and better for the environment.

If you want to further reduce waste you can purchase a reusable aluminum water bottle to fill-up.  Each time you use a reusable water bottle we will donate 5 cents to a local charity!

By The Way - The Environmental Protection Agency says that New York tap water is so clean it doesn't need filtration!  New York tap water is naturally filtered in the ecosystem; which naturally dissolves minerals in the water as the water travels from its source of 19 reservoirs and 3 lakes into our local facuets.

Interesting Water Bottle Facts
-Bottles used to package water take over 1,000 year to bio-degrade and if incinereated, they produce toxic fumes.
-Only 1 out of 5 water bottles are recycled; 80% end up as litter.
-U.S. landfills are overlowing with 2 million tons of discarded water bottles.
