Meal Plans and Dining Dollars

You’ve got enough to worry about on campus: classes, studying, work and extracurricular activities. You shouldn’t have to stress about eating too. Having a meal plan lets you grab a meal, when you want it and where you want it. We have a variety of meal plans that fit into your schedule and provide an assortment of high quality choices, with all the types of food you like. Little short on cash today? No worries, your meals are prepaid. Want something healthy? You’ve got it (Your parents will be proud). So whether you’re looking to fill up or grab something lite, we’ve got you covered.

Once you have a meal plan, your student ID works like a debit card. Simply swipe your card and the meal, meal exchange or dining dollars is deducted from your account automatically.

Our meal plans are flexible so you can get the most out of them. There are two parts to each meal plan, Meal Allowance and Dining Dollars.

Meals Allowance
Each meal plan has a set number of “meals” that can be used in the All-You-Care-To-Eat residential dining locations: Weinstein Dining Hall, Palladium Café, Third North Courtyard Café, Rubin Dining Room, and Hayden Dining Room. Upon entering the dining location, you ID card will be swiped and one “meal” will be deducted from your meal allowance. This allows you to enjoy an All-You-Care-To-Eat meal during that visit. In lieu of dining in, you can take your meal to-go. For one meal swipe, you will be given 2 empty containers, (one for solid food, one for liquid) to fill with any type of food you desire.

Meal Exchange
This feature enables you to use your Meal Allowance at Weinstein Food Court, the Kimmel Center Market Place, Java City EcoGrounds, U-Hall Cafe and Dunkin Donuts. When using Meal Exchange, one meal will be deducted from your Meal Allowance. (This includes Chick-fil-A and Quiznos!)

Meal Plan Membership Options

Dining Dollars
Dining Dollars are accepted at all dining locations and can be used at your discretion throughout the semester. Works like a bank debit card; each time you make a purchase the total is subtracted from the balance in your account. Each Dining Dollar is equivalent to one U.S. Dollar. Accepted at all residential dining locations, Starbucks @ the Square, Kimmel Center Market Place, Dunkin Donuts at U-Hall, Weinstein Food Court and Java City at Weinstein Food Court.

Starting Sept. 14th you can add Dining Dollars to you account by logging onto http://home.nyu.edu/. Dining Dollars can be added in blocks of $15, $25, $50, or $100.

Roll Over Dining Dollars - Meal Plan members must hold a meal plan in both fall and spring sememsters in order for dining dollars to "roll-over". The spring dining dollar balance will include the spring dining dollars and any unused fall dining dollars. Dining dollars must be used by the end of the spring semester. Dining Dollars do not roll-over to the next academic year.
