ARAMARK Sustainability

To The FIT Community,
FIT Dining is committed to increasing the amount of environmentally friendly products and services offered on campus. We understand the importance of continued environmental initiatives, especially for FIT and our guests.
Eat Green is a communication campaign to help educate our guests about the steps we are taking to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, the support of sustainable agriculture, and the elimination of unnecessary waste. This campaign not only communicates our efforts, but also nurtures and supports student initiatives in relation to environmental issues on campus.

Below, please find a list of the initiatives and programs we have in place;

  • Use compact florescent and regular florescent light bulbs. Florescent Bulbs help reduce the amount of electricity being used to light the locations.
  • In celebration of 2008 Earth Day, FIT Dining is planting one tree for each meal plan sold during the 2008-2009 Academic school year. FIT Dining has partnered with American Forests for this initiative.
  • Feature re-usable bags to reduce the amount of plastic bags used in Building A Café. These are sold at cost.
  • Use recycled paper in copiers and printers.
  • Have a food pulpier in Building A Café, this helps reduce the waste being placed in landfills.
  • Recycle cardboard and cooking oil.
  • Use Eco friendly cleaning products, consisting of the “Green” line of environmentally friendly products.
  • Shutdown all office computers overnight and put them to sleep when not in use to reduce the amount of electricity being used.
  • Feature only Fair Trade Starbucks Coffee in Building A Café and C Lobby.
  • Purchase local baked goods and produce when possible.
  • Take efforts to reduce packaging by offering china whenever possible.

We will continue to explore new ways to expand our role in improving the environment and look forward to forming partnerships with student groups on campus to reach these goals.
Sincerely,

Bob Dome
