To The Drew University Community,
Drew University Dining Services is committed to increasing the amount of environmentally friendly products and services offered on campus. We understand the importance of continued environmental initiatives, especially for Drew and our guests.
Eat Green is a communication campaign to help educate our guests about the steps we are taking to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, the support of sustainable agriculture and the elimination of unnecessary waste. This campaign not only communicates our efforts, but also nurtures and supports student initiatives in relation to environmental issues on campus.
Below, please find a list of the initiatives and programs we have in place;
We offer reusable bags! Bring or buy a reusable bag and receive $0.05 off.
We make an effort to encourage you to purchase fountain beverages instead of bottles!
We offer an environment discount! If you use a 16 oz. reusable mug, you only pay for a 12 oz. coffee!
In an effort to reduce green house gas emission, we purchase many of our products locally.
All of our napkins are made from recycled paper!
All of our dining offices use 100% recycled paper in our copiers and printers!
We shut down all of our computers at night! Did you know that if just 1 million people shut down their office PC’s overnight we could eliminate up to 45,000 tons of CO2 per year!
We encourage all students, faculty and staff to use china and silverware whenever possible.
Recycle all waste cooking oil.
Feature Fair Trade Eco-Ground coffee at Java City. With this program, Java City works with coffee farmers to promote sustainable social, ecological, and economic models for the production and trade of coffee that benefits the farmers, their families, and the natural environment.
We will continue to explore new ways to expand our role in improving the environment and look forward to forming partnerships with student groups on campus to reach these goals.
