Welcome to the Chef’s Corner,
Flowers are coming into bloom, temperatures are heating up and students are getting anxious for summer break. May is a very busy month for all of us and Dining’s got quite a full calendar of favorites and specials for finals.
Within our Residential program, May is packed with themed meals such as: Picnic in the Park, a fiesta for Cinco de Mayo, a Sunday Jazz Brunch, Steak and Shrimp, PJ’s, Pancakes & Ice Cream, Final Exam Meltdown and a new installation, a Culinary Showcase Premium Dinner.
Picnic in the Park is an outdoor treat with menu items such as: country fried chicken, old fashioned potato salad, deviled eggs, quarter pound hot dogs, fresh watermelon and a sundae station. The Cinco de Mayo dinner will feature some of our student’s favorite Mexican dishes like, chicken and beef tacos, Mexican rice, refried beans and a seven-layer dip. The Jazz Brunch will be feature even more delectable menu items than the Sterling Brunch with a Holy Trinity omelet station, banana foster French toast, Belgium waffle bar, Creole vegan hash, crab eggs benedict and a slew of breakfast pastries and desserts along with the cool sounds of jazz for the students listening pleasure. Moving into final exams and when students need their energy the most, we’ll have a late night special with PJ’s, Pancakes and Ice Cream and the Final Exam Meltdown which features a variety of sandwich melts. Residential will end the year with a Culinary Showcase where our talented chefs around campus will serve up a premium menu of braised short ribs, fresh asparagus, vegetable carousel tort with yellow gazpacho and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
There are a few special events being featured throughout the rest of the semester at our Retail locations; May Madness in Trabant will offer specials for late night studying and did you know May is National Salad Month? We will celebrate with specialty salads at Trabant and Perkins every Wednesday. I will be back in Perkins this month for Cupcake Day as students can decorate their own cupcake on Thursday, May 2nd. For students planning one last hurrah before finals begin, we’ll have party trays available for order at Dunkin Donuts, Chick fil A, Quiznos and Topios on Friday, May 10th.
